The Court of the Falcon
Reign of Abd al-Rahman I, First Emir of Córdoba, 756
It is the year 756, Abd al-Rahman has established his authority in al-Andalus, the territory in Spain ruled by the Muslims. As a deposed prince of the previous dynasty, Abd al-Rahman has refused to swear fealty to the Abbasid Caliphate, and has declared himself the emir of Cordoba, which became a safe haven for supporters of the Umayyad Caliphate. We are surrounded by enemies. In the north, the Kingdom of Leon and the power-hungry Frankish king, Charlemagne seek to conquer the Iberian Peninsula for their own. In Baghdad, the Abbasid Caliphate looks to reconquer al-Andalus for their own power, and we must do our best to resist. It is up to you to defend Cordoba, keep your loyalty to the Umayyads, and let our people flourish under Abd al-Rahman’s rule.
