Letter from the Undersecretary-General, Committee Affairs

Dear Delegates,

It is my honor to welcome you all to the 36th rendition of the McGill Model United Nations Assembly. My name is Leah Siegel (she/her/elle) and I am the Under-Secretary-General, Committees Affairs, for McMUN 2025. I’m in my last year at McGill University, studying Political Science with a minor in Environment.

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce my three incredible deputies: Inès Wolff (she/her) as Deputy of General Assemblies and ECOSOCs, Marisol Godbille-Cardona (she/her) as Deputy of Specialized Agencies, and Antonina Nikolaev (she/her) as Deputy of Crisis. They have worked tirelessly to create an incredible slate of committees that addresses pressing issues while creating stimulating debate. Together, we are committed to creating an equitable but challenging environment for you all to grow as delegates and people.

Over the next year, McMUN Team Committees will be working tirelessly to develop the innovative, challenging, and thought-provoking committees that you will be participating in. From ensuring the preservation of languages to protecting Inuit food rights to venturing into the Himalayas, this year’s slate offers delegates the opportunity to challenge themselves and push themselves to be better debaters and diplomats. No matter what country or character you represent, we hope that you come out with a new skill, perspective, or friend.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding committees, background guides, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of Team Committees. I look forward to seeing you all in January and watching you debate, collaborate, and implement creative crisis arcs. I hope you all enjoy this conference and come out of it with a memorable experience, whether that is a spirited debate or McParté.

Welcome to Montréal and McMUN!

Best of luck,

Leah Siegel
