Welcome to the Wayback Machine Archive Journalists Committee! In this unique and dynamic committee, we assemble some of the world's most renowned writers and journalists across eras, all working for the fictional Wayback Machine Archive. Inspired by the real-life Wayback Machine internet archive, our mission is to preserve crucial information that has been removed, updated, or is at risk of being lost on the web. Delegates in our committee will be from different time periods and will attempt to restore lost or stolen information.
As journalists in this committee, delegates will face the challenging task of retrieving lost information by visiting various McMUN committees set in different historical and contemporary periods around the world. Traveling through time delegates will be challenged with the age-old task of preserving knowledge and the eternal legacy of writers. Each journalist is expected to research, gather, and report on key events and developments from these diverse committees. This immersive experience will provide delegates with the opportunity to explore and understand the nuances of significant historical moments and contemporary issues from a journalist’s perspective. Not only, but delegates will be faced with false truths and broken narratives.
In addition to their investigative and reporting duties, delegates will engage in in-room debates focusing on the evolving responsibilities of journalists. Topics will include ethical journalism, the challenges of preserving information in the digital age, and the impact of misinformation and censorship on public discourse. These discussions will not only enhance the delegates' understanding of the role of journalists in society but also foster critical thinking about the preservation of information through time.
Delegates will also be tasked with writing comprehensive articles on their assigned committee topics. These articles should not only report the facts but also offer insightful analysis and context, embodying the high standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy.
By participating in the Wayback Machine Archive Journalists Committee, delegates will gain invaluable experience in investigative journalism, ethical debate, and the critical role of preserving information. This committee not only highlights the importance of accurate reporting and historical preservation but also prepares delegates to navigate the complex and evolving landscape of modern journalism.
