SDG 13: Climate Action
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
This year's United Nations Environment Programme is going to be centered around the urgent action that needs to be taken in order to combat climate change and its increasingly alarming impact. The committee will be focused on how to effectively develop sustainable development goals and implement them on a global scale to combat climate change. Subtopics will range from understanding what needs to be learned from past initiatives to the innovation required to move forward and create new policy. Incentivising states and large corporations to commit to climate action is not an easy problem to solve and how these new goals will be used to create systemic change is going to mean cooperation and dedication from all delegates.
The commitment needed to undertake such a worldwide problem is going to involve improving education, raising awareness, adapting, and bringing forth creative yet effective ideas. The subsequent effects of combating climate change drastically impact related sustainable development goals as it is the basis for a number of consequent global crises. The UNEP must act fast before many of the basic needs and resources of the world become more and more difficult to hold on to.
