Letter from the Secretary-General, Marisol Godbille-Cardona
Dear McMUN Community,
Marisol Godbille-Cardona, Secretary-General
Year after year, the McMUN conference creates an unforgettable academic and social experience for students across North America and even further. Our extensive team and staff foster a space for excellence in diplomacy and impassioned speeches, pushing delegates to think on their feet in complex situations. On behalf of the entire secretariat, I am incredibly proud to invite you all to the 37th iteration of McMUN!
We pride ourselves in providing eye-opening experiences to delegates through committees with regional and temporal variation simulated in a variety of innovative forums, including traditional UN bodies, but also specialized agencies, cabinets, board of directors and more. This year, we will be adding new committee types, such as a UN Security Council, in addition to reinstating favourites such as a non-traditional crisis committee, an Ad Hoc Specialized Agency and an ICAO committee. This ICAO committee is conducted in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), headquartered in Montréal.
Our simulations, which challenge the problem-solving skills of our attendees, are preparing university students to make these meaningful decisions in the future. In acting beyond these simulations, McMUN promotes meaningful engagement at all levels of politics, recognizing the importance of grassroots initiatives in tandem with international forums. Through our Global Leadership Forum, students may speak with industry leaders on our conference theme and interact with our charity partner. Our goal is not only to simulate important events but create opportunities for our participants to meet professionals in the field and interact with our partners.
More than Model UN, McMUN represents a network of driven students who create meaningful connections, many returning throughout their university career. Our many events create bonds between students and university teams at some of Montreal’s largest downtown venues. Competition, camaraderie and professional development are central to what McMUN has to offer, and on behalf of the Secretariat and our staff, we look forward to seeing you in 2026.
Extending a warm welcome to Montréal,
Marisol Godbille-Cardona
Secretary-General, McMUN 2026
